Understanding and excuse are not the same thing
I understand (for example) why the 9/11 bombers felt the need to kill US citizens
but though I understand the why, it does not excuse the act
so many people seem to confuse understanding with excusing
I wonder why?

Do you think that those who blame immigrants for taking jobs, or resent them for opening businesses, would be "understandable" if they firebombed their homes?

If those immigrants settled in a single area, and held the avowed intention of converting that area to their state, one which would reflect their culture and theirs alone, I think that violence would be inevitable.
