It mainly has to do with what one thinks of the authority of the Church in defining correct doctrine.......

"how can the Pope be the supreme ruler and a zero in the same book"

The Protestants simply reject or twist the scriptures where Jesus chooses Peter as the chief Apostle in his newly created Church. Peter is not a Rock but a little pebble (petros)! "Upon this rock is will build my Church" is interpreted to mean the "faith" of Peter rather than Peter as the leader of the Church. They never explain how this nebulous interpretation would fulfill Jesus's next words to Peter: "what you shall bind on earth" etc.!

They do the same with Christ's ordination of Holy Communion in the sixth chapter of John. Protestants simply avoid these scriptures about the "body and blood" and focus 'when you do this in memory of me you remember my death' etc.
The Scriptures tell us that all generation of Christians shall call Mary blessed. Catholics and Orthodox fulfill this daily but when was the last time you heard a Protestant call Mary blessed. Again, "blessed are thou among women" is repulsive to Protestants.

It is not the differences in the Testaments but the neglect of certain scriptures by both Protestants and Catholics.

Early yesterday, I thought that the Pope had come out with zero tolerance to pedophilia in priests. Then on the radio on the drive home, I heard different. If true, then the Pope and the rest of the Catholic church hierarchy is just plain wrong, IMHO. I'm not a Catholic, but I have given them money when I go to services with my Catholic wife and her family. Now, they get nada, zip from me. I'll be giving whatever money I would have given to the collection plate to a home for abused kids. If I'm wrong, I guess God will punish me.
