Madrid-Moscow is about the same distance as east to west coast of the USA. I have been on a 3000-miles-trip to the North Cape and across Scandinavia with a VW Polo. nordkapp.com

In Europe they will come. For instance, there is a plan for a high-speed line from London to Moscow, 1500 miles. Would be a great travel, maybe right on to Vladivostok with the Transsiberian railway.

That's just Amtrak problems. Deutsche Bahn had huge losses as long as it was a public company. It has been privatized, and they are starting to be profitable.

Personally, I'm very partial to Mag-Lev trains, but again.. we're talking BIG $$$$$...

Since when did anyone expect Amtrak to be profitable ?
