Ted,

Re: " ... its why it p*sses the hell out of me that we are so dependent on oil ..."

And then you "sit here" on this thread slamming ANWR drilling ... A little
hypocritical, me thinks.

Make It So,

And you don't think they did that gratis, do you? They were making a very strong point to US.....we take care of you and you take of us.

This is an absurd statement. Obviously, we know precisely how dependent we are on foreign oil. That's why the Bush Administration has been pushing for ANWR. It is funny to me that you pick up on this "subtle point" a week later.

its why it p*sses the hell out of me that we are so dependent on oil, and that the Tims and the D. Rays of world can ramble on how there is nada wrong with pigging out at the trough when it comes to oil.

This issue is about freedom and capitalism -- the foundations of America. Why are so quick to give up our freedom to drive an SUV or a diesel truck if we want to -- but you're so protective of selected other freedoms, much as the ACLU is?

While you are critical of me and my positions, these are just glaring inconsistencies that make your positions totally incredible and untenable. They are, frankly, not rational.

some may disagree but I bet that the oil is still going to be there even without prince Abdulah. :~))
re: Today, they called their chip.......
what chip? He was supposed to be a puppet but he is not so lets make another one. There is dime a dozen Abdulahs in Saudi Arabia who are at poverty level and would not mind to be billionears.
re: That would be interesting......Israel annexes Saudi Arabia. Who's going to email Sharon and Bush? ;~))
I'll e-mail Sharon you take care of Bush :-))

every time crude futures have spiked in the past year, or Iraq has threatened to stop their oil production or something else has threatened the world's oil supply, the Saudis have stepped up and said that they will make sure the world's oil supply remains stabile. Every single damn time, like clockwork.

And you don't think they did that gratis, do you?

No they make a lot of money doing it.

1 - If Iraq cuts back or production in other countries is disrupted and Saudi can take over some of their share, then Saudi can sell more oil without lowering prices.

2 - Saudi knows that if the price is allowed to go to high then demand will go down and not just in the short run. If the price stays up, or if the up and down price moves are too chaotic then people will find ways to conserve oil use, they will spend more on efficency, and they will look for non-oil energy sources and non mideast sources for oil.

3 - We pulled their bacon out of the frying pan, and pulled Kuwait's out of the fire.
