What schedule do you keep? It's really great. You always come in after the shooting is over and the bodies have been carried out.

Gee, Steve, there is the tip off that you are misconstruing it: "As American as America"! America is a multi- ethnic state, and was especially at the time Weizmann flourished, after being flooded with immigrants from Southern and Eastern Europe at the turn of the century (among them my relatives). To be as Jewish as "America is American" is to embrace Jews from diverse places in the globe, with different cultural influences and "racial" strands (from intermarriage), from Arab lands and India, from Latin America and Poland, from Ethiopia and the United States, united in trying to build a democracy that will be a haven and spokesman for World Jewry. In that context, there is no reason, in fact, that Arab- Israelis could not maintain a substantial cultural presence in the state, just as the Amish or the Hasidim do in the United States. Besides, all those wishing to live in an Arab state had a couple of dozen to choose from, whereas the Jews only had Israel. Finally, Mexicans who lived in the Southwest and California faced exactly the situation of having a foreign power allow immigration that would ultimately Americanize the region. They may have resented it, but many adapted, not one blew up schoolchildren, and many probably were thankful to be a part of the States rather than Mexico.........
