I am saying that this is likely an experiment, not a controlled scientific study.

I served on rank and tenure committees for many years, evaluating faculty publications. One of the problems in the sciences is that many highly reputable journals publish research notes of a page or even half-page (it becomes a "problem" when they are claimed as publications). These are brief reports of tentative findings in experiments that may interest colleagues. I am not saying that is true with this paper, as I do not know, but it has all the looks of it. Suffice to to say that no study of 64 men, without control groups, would ever be given serious scientific weight.
