I was aware of the shift in complexity from the hardware to the compiler. It also helps if the compiler knows something about the data (ie. compilation can be adjusted based on some runs of trial data). However, I appreciate the reply as it helped clarify some of my information.

It sounds like a solution which will be expensive to code for and the code will be expensive to maintain and extend. This does not sound like a system which will ever be practical for the general purpose market and for the first time the notion that "these processors are for the server market and not the desktop market" will be true for at least several years.
