I lost a good bit of money (or rather, missed additional profits) by selling my puts on the Dow too early last fall, partly because I listened to the VIXologists. I did buy the puts back during the post-September 11 rally (again, too soon).

But I think the gut feeling I get from all the varities of input available on SI serves me better than a mechanical indicator. Also, it seems to me, valuations in general of equities are so unreasonably high that I am afraid to be caught between the bases and run down by a fluctuating VIX.

I think you're right... we've been down many days in a row, but not that much... we need a washout. I'm going to kick myself for selling 1/2 my SPX poooooots.
