WHT - Its not just to avoid paying a royalty. Don't forget that they now have massove competition from Korea and soon China and if NOK was servile to QCOM's IPR all they would be is just another handset maker. The game would be up for NOK and Finland.

As it is they have to do what they are doing. The Europeans are going to be screwed but they are used to it as they know no better. Check out the cost of a mobile to mobile call in Gt Briatain or a fixed line to mobile call.

The funny thing is that most media and commentators seem to accept that Europe is way ahead of the US in mobile wireless. It is laughable but they keep on repeating it. Thats just fine. It doesn't hurt the Q. It will only make it all the stronger as the truth starts to emerge.

Best,

L

It couldn't have anything with IJ being Jewish. Nah! Couldn't be!

ROFLMAO! yeah, sure--the entire European Union bases its major economic decisions on the religion and ethnicity of an old man i San Diego who runs a company with less than 3BILLION in sales. funny thing that DELL computers are so popular in Europe.

Not too many Jewish persons living in Europe are here -- if you exclude the former Soviet Union.

Now we are blaming QCOM's woes on the Europeans not liking Jews. This has got to be the ultimate example of bubble delusion.

I find it nauseating that you imply, unfounded, antiSemitism as a reason for EU not going with QCOM 2G or 2.5G (but will in 3G wCDMA). As nauseating as if you were making antiSemitic remarks yourself. The other day someone here implied that Nokia was antiSemitic - Nokia is a good QCOM customer and will pay royalties on 3G as it did for 2G and 1X, as you well know. Who's next to be fingered? AT&T, Cingular? No one except QCommies wants for QCOM to control the whole industry: - ASICs, IPR and software -if they can help it. It's simple.

Enough already!
