8:55AM: Little enthusiasm in the futures market this morning as current indications point to a relatively mixed start for the cash market... Presently, the S&P futures +0.20, are 1.20 points above fair value while the Nasdaq 100 Pre-Market Indicator is down 2.15 points... Overall, there has been little reaction to the initial claims data or to anything else for that matter as there hasn't been much in the way of newsflow to impact the broader market...
Some individual stories of note include the Moody's downgrade of Xerox's (XRX 9.07) senior unsecured debt, a Merrill Lynch downgrade of Priceline.com (PCLN 5.25) following the latter company's Q1 earnings report last night, and a mixed Q1 earnings report from Cigna (CI 110.83), which exceeded the Multex consensus EPS estimate of $1.88 by $0.04 but fell a bit shy of the consensus revenue estimate of $4.92 bln
