It's more than hearts and The Sun. Business minds don't like federal Europe. At least not ones spending their own money. Those that get paid regardless of performance might think it is a good idea, but then lots of good ideas have come and go. The problem with the EU and the UK is that the EU is one big welfare system with the UK being the sole contributor. UK and Germany used to share the burden of contribution while all others were net takers. That changed when the Berlin wall came down.
