UK being the sole contributor. - ROTFLMAO
UK is European whenever UK can take an advantage.
Vetoes any decision which could cost money.
UK is more an US colony than a member state of the EU.

can we change (some of it, all) that? Instead of sulking in some corner and having "me" instead of "us" written all over our minds...In the sense of family quarrels, ending in unavoidable "what have you done for me lately"?

>>UK and Germany used to share the burden of contribution while all others were net takers. That changed when the Berlin wall came down. <<

For every euro received in (predominantly agricultural) aid Germany pays (as in "pays now") 2 euros into the common piggybank. IOW >>UK being the sole contributor<< is not true.

Note that 50B euro of agricultural subsidies for Germany are tiny compared to ~10^9 Euro flowing east out of 4% Solidarity income tax.

So, seen from this perspective, when the Berlin wall came down, nothing much changed in the sense of finances. You should feel better - UK is not alone in bearing the sins (and the finances) of the EUnion;
