If you subtract out the cash, ORCL is selling at a PE of approximately 19 which might be on trough earnings.

Craig,

Congrats on your purchase. Wish I had more cash available myself. People are panic-selling ORCL, I think. The p/e is very reasonable now and there are signs that macro demand is poised to pick up, both in your post and through this industry analyst:

biz.yahoo.com

The other thing people aren't thinking about is that roughly 30% of ORCL's business is government related (someone correct me here if this is off) and 9/11 is driving the government to invest more in high-powered databases. There was an article about this in the New York Times Sunday magazine a few weeks ago and people posted about the anti-Privacy award Larry got, but people didn't mention that the article was all about the huge interest in the very type of database that ORCL is best at providing. The article didn't mention a single competitor for this type of business. You notice there are no resignations among the people responsible for the government stuff.
