Al >Remember Alex Halley? These men of letters get no respect.

Sorry, I don't remember Alex Halley.

Yes, I can see that they get no respect. Also anyone who doesn't approve of Israeli policies. In fact, it seems if Dubya doesn't support Israel 100%, he won't either.

Frankly, I don't understand what has overtaken the US. Never in my life have I seen such war fervour as right now. What is even more frightening (to me and many others in this world) is that the US government can say or do anything and the American people will go right along with it as if they are hypnotized.

Whatever one thinks, I do believe Gore Vidal is a very learned and insightful man and should be taken seriously, at least in debate. The fact that he is completely scorned is worrying in the extreme.

PS. Is this the guy --- and the story?

Alan: I saw Gore on TV last nite and he looked like he was on some kind of medicine. H bumbled and stumbled and could not organize his thoughts. I know Cris can interrupt and sidetrack the guest but Vidal was pathetic.
