On the subject of Hersh, I would correlate these two articles, posted here when they came up.

THE DEBATE WITHIN

The objective is clear—topple Saddam. But how?

U.S. Envisions Blueprint on Iraq Including Big Invasion Next Year

Offhand, I'd say Hersh's reporting from 3 months earlier holds up pretty darn well, certainly better than the average Debka "scoop", or the endless axe-grinding leakage filtered through the bloviating pundits that's so popular here. I'd also say it's good to see cooler heads prevailing over the civilian DoD hothead contingent in the battle for W's heart and mind.

Although our raison d'être is to criticize the works passing before us, your characterization trivializes Hersch's work out of hand
making it difficult to establish any meaningful discussion over issues he may have raised.

Hell, Ken, I think he was drunk when he said that stuff!

If I made some of the claims he made, even to my most left wing friends, they'd tell me to stick it where the sun don't
shine. They'd tell me I was a paranoid. They'd say I'd need some evidence.

Basicly I'm like Hersch: skeptical of most governments and think the worst of them. Hersch nonetheless is claiming,
with absolutely no evidence brought out that the US governmnet is comitting a type of fraud, lying about casualties,
etc.

It's trash talk like you hear in a bar.

It was a bit over the top what I wrote. I've got no problems with what you wrote either.

Best regards,
Frank
