You mean the neocons and the religious right. I'm a card-carrying Republican, never voted for a Democrat in my life.

I think if the Israelis really wanted to get rid of Arafat, they would have. He's a convenient reason not to have to actually make tough choices.

Sharon doesn't want any deal he's likely to have to make, period. I haven't seen his map yet, but I'll bet it's got access roads cutting through Palestine to protect settlements inside Palestine.
