<< In all of that post no hint of the degree to which the various Israeli governments undermined the Oslo agreement by continuing settlements in the West Bank. >>

I'm beginning to believe denial runs deeply on both side of this conflict whether it is the settlements of the West Bank or suicide bombers on civilian population. It is not particularly constructive or conducive for peace.

Since most Jews have taken the position that Israel operates on a higher moral principle or moral clarity, it would seem reasonable that Israel take the first steps in promoting negotiations during this most recent cycle of violence. I am not really sure the extremist right of the political spectrum in Israel would be pleased with any peace negotiations, as this war on terrorism by Israel, has been a convenient excuse to further promote the occupation of the West Bank under the disguise of national security or peace thru security.
