You are mixing apples and oranges. A certain gentleman of wisdom here stated that owning a hand gun so he could kill someone was representative of freedom, my counter was why are we not then free to use drugs which has no victim other than the self. The constitution as written also allows individuals to own nuclear and chemical weapons which are illegal. Thus the right to own and use a handgun has been superceded since the 1700's. Unfortunately since a lot of us are still cowboys we don't recognize that handguns kill a lot of Americans uselessly. So I stick with my premise if you feel the need to carry a piece carry a rifle.
