I get the feeling you're just a Dell kinda guy. Good for you. I have two, one from work, one I purchased. Both suck. I spend more time with their pissed off customer support than I care to.
I'm not enamored of their operating model. It's a one trick pony that they have leveraged to the nth degree. They better hope their brand identity doesn't slip, because once that does, they are down the tubes.

Elroy, why do you think you know better the ranking of HPQ than Michael Capellas?

You write:
Wrong, HPQ is now #1 in the commodity areas, PC's, low end servers and low end storage. HPQ is weak in the high
end areas, Uniz servers and High end storage (SAN and NAS).

The commodity areas will be price sensitive, and HPQ will lose share to DELL since they have a higher cost
operating model.

From the summary of Michael Capellas today's address to all employees:

He quickly painted the overall business context
of HP's position in the marketplace, tossing in
humorous asides throughout. While showing a
slide entitled "Revenue by Business Segment,"
he pointed out that HP is now No. 1 in servers
and No. 1 in external storage.

"In services, we've gone from the No. 9 and No.
10 companies separately, to No. 3," he said.
"And the other two had better watch out."

He then showed that HP is now the leader by
far in the PC space ("but we are going to
redefine the market"), and well ahead of all
competitors in imaging and printing ("We're on
top of the hill, so let's take the next one.").
