Tony - I'm in the Valley for a couple of days evaluating a new tester architecture and I have to comment to someone who will understand. Has the entire world gone GUI mad? I am seeing GUI's used where there's really no reason for them. In fact they just make things more difficult. The impression is that all engineering tools these days are designed by college grads in CS to impress other college grads in CS. There's no need for tools to be useful or productive, they just have to conform to the latest definition of CS state of the art. The engineer is now obliged to work for the tool instead of the tool working for the engineer. Don't engineers have any input anymore for the tools they will have to use? Is the software industry comprised solely of kids who never had to actually do anything but design interfaces?

Today's hardware is fantastic but the software is simply the sh*ts. Where have all the engineers gone?
