marginmike it is not the red mercury point ......... the drugs are the key ........ I know from childhood in Romania that many times people were sent to "hospitals" for having to much of democratic views ......... only to return after "treatment" completely changed........... at that time I did not understand ........... but by now it may be true and is a chilling possibility

In re: brainwashing, my general impression is that Haim is right, in general. Psychiatry was misused in the erstwhile East Bloc, but while thought reform techniques are powerful their long-term effectiveness can be overstated.
