All patents are not created equal. I made that observation a couple of years ago! Message 14346558 NOK keeps pumping out those WCDMA patents. Here is the closed loop power control patent that was filed for in 1998 and issued last month. patft.uspto.gov Note: NOK goes to great lengths to define the advantages of it's WCDMA implementation from previous IS-95 art. Gregg Power once said something to the affect that it would take NOK and ERICY about 5 years to work around Qualcomm's patents. Everyone seemed comfortable that they would not want a delay of that many years, and would simply pay Qualcomm. Well, it's been about 4 years since that statement was made. Quite simply.
