All patents are not created equal.

I made that observation a couple of years ago!

NOK keeps pumping out those WCDMA patents. Here is the closed loop power control patent that was filed for in 1998 and issued last month.

Note: NOK goes to great lengths to define the advantages of it's WCDMA implementation from previous IS-95 art.

Gregg Power once said something to the affect that it would take NOK and ERICY about 5 years to work around Qualcomm's patents. Everyone seemed comfortable that they would not want a delay of that many years, and would simply pay Qualcomm.

Well, it's been about 4 years since that statement was made.

Quite simply. I would not trust Nokia.
