Dave, let me explain it to you.

Sure, there are lots of run of the mill crooks out there blatantly trying to defraud everybody in sight. That's a shame, and those people should be punished.

But consider that nobody particularly reviles the names of the two criminals who were crucified alongside Jesus -- (I read the Gospels fairly regularly, but I still have a hard time even remembering their names.) -- because nobody had any reason to expect any better from them.

But JUDAS -- now there is a name that sticks in one's memory, even though he did nothing illegal. (If anything, he was assisting law enforcement.)

You had a reputation as one of the good guys -- a bit smarmy perhaps, but a decent enough fellow, promoting relatively safe little trades for little traders. But then your fifteen seconds of fame came along and with it came a whiff of silver, and I think that, to many on SI, it appears that you sold out those little traders who had come to rely on you for their relatively safe little trades.

That, IMHO, is how many people on SI see the situation. I could be wrong, of course.
