MeDroogies,
CompUSA did and may still have a house brand. It came out about the time Compaq started selling direct. It has been a while since I have been in the local store. The last time I was there, there was one CompUSA PC on display. The local store also carries a number of brands besides Compaq and HP. So I don't think finding another supplier is going to be a top priority. They already have a number of suppliers.

COSCO only carries Compaq, HP, and the cheap E machines. They seem to sell a number of them along with groceries, TVs, tools, boom boxes, watches, plants, and a variety of other items.<G>

I'm waiting for PCs to show up at Lowes and Home Depot. Maybe Sears will even take another shot at selling PCs again. When brand name services a product, just about any retailer can sell it. No doubt in my mind about that.

That is the card HP can play against house brands.
