Zeev, I thought you just grew turnips. You must be a rich person. And always wondered how you could be rich just growing turnips. But I am all for your idea. Yes you are right about population exchange. History is replete with these events.

Regarding Sharon, he is a general and every general does not rise to that rank if they do not value human life (except a Communist general). However, he is an unlucky general in that it is during his watch whether as a general or as Prime Minister that Israel got embroiled in a offensive war ( call it offensive since Israel has always crossed the territorial line).

Since my last post to you I understand from news reports that it is his Likud party (the Netanyahu forces) who are forcing his hands. The US should note of that and not give Netanyahu the red carpet any more since doing so does not help Sharon. Sharon needs to join forces with Shimon Peres. And hope the plan you suggested is something that will don on all the leaders and they will start working on it. In my opinion, the Zeev plan is extremely fair to all.

Zeev I completely agree with this statement the Israeli politics under Rabin and Bar Lev denied Sharon the recognition he deserves, and I know that first hand as I was there under Bren and remember very well the Chinese Farm episode and the hidden brick wall on the Suez Canal laid by Sharon years before ...... just in case.

They are quite different, Sharon is an honest soldier, meticulous in avoiding casualties, certainly of his troops, but as he proved during the 1973 campaign, the opposition's troops as well. There was nothing to stop him from decimating the whole 3rd Egyptian army, he just did not think that there was any strategic goal to be achieved by the senseless elimination of that fighting force, and chose to neutralize them without actually killing them. he should be lauded instead of being tarnished as a "war monger".
