" Actually, you are right."The world we live in is a shadow of reality " My dog used to live in that shadow, too. But he got hit by a car in the fifties."giving of myself is the least I can do for my God who has given me so much already. " Certainly, he has given you a lot more than He gives to the millions of biological humans who are spontaneously aborted a few seconds after fertilization. And He certainly has given you more than the innocent parents and children who awake in the middle of the night to the joy of having "God's" other blessed people slashing throats open and heads off with machetes. Yes. And he has done more for you than He did for babies with Polio, or for innocent people writhing in the last seconds of cancer, before they ever had a chance to live or to learn or to love: people with dry lips, dry hearts, and dry souls. As well, I suppose He has done more for you than the millions who have died in floods, earthquakes, and fires. And it is only in passing that we mention the millions of "soldiers" on both sides of a thousand sides throughout the ages...whom He did less for. Surely, He has done so much for you; and I have no doubt you did not deserve it, so it counts (that was a feeble joke you understand...). Kenyon, don't let this post either insult or upset you in a significant way. You are on the "SGBR" thread. It is not a love-in for Christianity, nor Islam, nor any other religion. But it is a place to share your faith if you wish, provided you are willing to hear or endure satire and ridicule. I cannot speak for others; but when I am sarcastic it is generally against ideas--not people. You seem like the most decent of people. There is the disclaimer. Your ideas insult my ideas of humanity and reason. Therefore, I will share with you my honest scorn, scepticism, and abhorrence where and when apropriate. I hope you understand that words are not stones, but if you do not, then...c'est la vie. Perhaps God has given you so much because of special favouritism? Have you thought of that?
