Video of Death of Journalist Is Seen in Court in Pakistan

By HOWARD W. FRENCH
SLAMABAD, Pakistan, May 14 — A video showing the beheading of the American journalist Daniel Pearl was shown in a Pakistani court today in the trial of four men accused of the murder.

The four defendants sat unmoved throughout the screening. A defense lawyer dismissed the videotape as "very weak evidence," and cited the absence of movement from the body during the beheading as proof the video was a fake.

"There was absolutely nothing," said the lawyer, Rai Bashir. "Hundreds of such videos can be prepared. When the head was cut off the body the victim did not even move his legs."

According to Reuters, during a briefing after the closed court sessions, which are being held inside a Hyderabad prison, Mr. Bashir told reporters that the video had begun with an image of Mr. Pearl with the words "Palestine, Kashmir and Afghanistan" across the bottom of the screen, and then scenes of children in Palestinian refugee camps. When Mr. Pearl reappears, only the hands of his killer or killers can be seen. The body of Mr. Pearl, a Wall Street Journal reporter, has never been found.

The Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, has conveyed to the U.S. President, George Bush, that India would take "appropriate action'' in response to the terrorist
killings near Jammu on Tuesday.

The Prime Minister made this observation when Mr. Bush phoned him this evening.
The Prime Minister, in the light of the Jammu attack, had
declared in the Lok Sabha that "what has happened is very
heinous and we have to counter it".

The permeation of Hindu concepts in Islam
I will periodically write topics of interest on Hinduism and Islam.
Info. gathered from various sources.

*Allah is the First, the Last, the Internal and has neither beginning and nor an end.
Hinduism said the same things way back God knows when, before Islam came into existence. By "Internal", it is meant that He is the nearest.

Allah does not dwell in any of his creatures nor do they dwell in Him. All beings other than Him are created by His will and are obedient to His will.
(Sarva-bhutani), all beings, from Brahma to a clump of grass; (matsthani), exist in Me, are established in Me in that unmanifest form. I Myself am the Self of those created things. Consequently, it appears to people of little
understanding that I dwell in them. Hence I say: (Na ca aham), but I am not; (avasthitah), contained; (tesu), in them, in the created things. --Sankaracharya's Bhasya Bhagavad Gita 9.4

*Allah: There is no one like Him. He is the hearer and the Seer. He is One and indivisible. Nothing gets done without Him. He is neither born nor begotten.
Hinduism: Brahman is One and second to none. He has no ears but hears; He has no legs but He walks; He has no eyes, but He sees; He is here but He is everywhere. Not even the blade of grass moves without his consent or His knowledge. He is One but appears as many in His manifestations.
Allah lives for ever. He is the sustainer. He created the heavens and the earth, which cannot function without Him, but he doesn't need them to function.
In Hinduism, these concepts are nothing new. He created the cosmic law RTA which keeps the cosmos in balance. The sustainer is Lord Vishnu; the creator is Brahmah and the destroyer is Siva. All three are one God holding three portfolios depending upon the need of the individual self.

The smuggled Paki Taxila artifacts have a new home-the appreciative West--JPR
Islam has no regard, respect, value or sense of history for Hindu and Buddhist civilization. It is good that at least the smugglers think they are of value and send the artifacts of Old Indian Civilization out of the country. The West appreciates their value. Before muddle-headed Mullahs declare cockamamie fatwas and denounce the past of their stolen land, the smugglers are doing us and the world an immense service.--JPR

Smuggling of artefacts---DAWN.COM

Archaeologists and historians are in for another shock with the disturbing report the other day that what could be priceless historical artefacts embedded in the Taxila valley dating back to the famed Gandhara civilization are being excavated without the requisite authorization and smuggled abroad through Islamabad and Karachi.

According to the report, this unlawful excavation is going on in at least six sites in the Taxila valley, including one near Khurrum village which is just about 13 kilometres away from the Taxila Museum. The precious artefacts that the country is losing from this smuggling include coins, Buddha statues and jewellery pieces. What is not understandable is why the Department of Archaeology appears to be a silent, helpless spectator in this whole episode. Especially so when there are clear laws against such excavations.
