Doesn't Standard & Poor use WCOM? Not sure on what level but I thought they were a customer. Seems conflicting to delist them but continue to use their service.

R.D.:

..it's simple - the ratings agencies were burned by Enron and other collapses they didn't see coming and are letting stock market action affect their judgement of credit issues..

Agreed. As a result the agencies and damn near all institutions are jumping around nervous and jerky like a cat on a hot tin roof. They are so scared about looking bad that they're now on the verge of looking worse with all the analytical whip-sawing (we rate a buy...no...it's gone up a point...we change rating to hold...no....back down a point...we change...). They're, in effect, leading the markets around like a punch-drunk boxer.

Yet another outcome, imho, of ENE, Anderson and all the rest. It'll probably take a great deal of time for all of this to calm down. Meanwhile....WCOM seems to be stabilizing here in the upper $1.20's to ~$1.31. All I can ask is that 'ol Clint Eastwood refrain....."Do ya feel lucky??" ;-)

John~
