After reading "The Wind from a Burning Woman" by Greg Bear, and examining my beliefs, I have concluded that there are circumstances under which I might engage in terrorism. Or do what it takes to oppose it. It, by no means, is a black and white issue.

Under certain conditions, I think we all are capable of terrorism.

But terrorism is a last resort type of thing.

Yup. An important statement........

Where, in my opinion, the Palestinians screwed up is that under Barak, they had a chance to get almost all of what they wanted.

Maybe.....but we aren't Palestinians...what we think may be enough may not be to them.

They chose to gamble and push for getting more. So far, that has proven to be a fools gambit. To gamble, lose, and then whine is the mark of a loser.

Well, none of us would disagree with you that Arafat should not be running Palestine.

give me an example of conditions that would make it ok for you personally either to blow up or send someone to blow up a bus full of women and children and then go and celebrate the success.
I really would like to hear that.....

I cannot think of a situation where absolutes are more called for, and to suggest there is gray area is characteristic of a mindset that allows for rationalization of any conceivable offense.

What one must understand, however, is that like everything in our universe, even moral absolutes are variable over time. What is today considered "terrorism" would have been acceptable warfare in another day and time. What we see as barbarism today was once routine behavior undertaken without even a second thought.

Thirty years ago when we bombed Hanoi, it was with great concern for the knowledge that large numbers of innocents would die, but nonetheless we did it. The tide was changing. 25 years before, we had dropped The Bomb in Japan. Twice. Today, these are all barbaric, terrorist actions.

One could argue that the Palestinians are simply less evolved culturally, and as a result see their terrorist actions as acceptable. However, one must take a world view in this regard. If the Palestinians are going to live in the same geographical space as the Israelis, they must learn to respect the basic rules of civilized behavior.
