As you say, the big stuff is a LOT less threatening than the MAD old days of Teller and Sakharov, Krushchev and Kennedy. There is also a LOT that has gone right and we are enjoying every day.

Such as cyberspace.

The new threat from the head-hacking, Q'uran-quoting, mad Mullah-inspired lunatics may be more insidious as they will take a lot longer to eliminate or lessen. Plus, the cowards strike without warning.

At the end of the day, MAD was a great thing because it worked. And the proof of it is that we're communicating at this very instant.

Got anything similar to MAD that might lessen the threats posed by the head-hackers?

Sorry to dampen the optimism, but it seems to me that threats will always be at the core of human experience in some form or other.
