Joan,
My brother is a teacher and a fine one and one of my best friends is also, so don't anyone take this the wrong way.

I also have friends with government jobs, DOD. ALL fine people who do a great job and deserve a decent pay. But I remember when these jobs did not pay as well as skilled trade/technical labor in the private sector.

My concern is not so much that the teachers/government workers are being paid well, but that the private sector that pays the taxes is falling behind proportionally.
I think many private sector people have the credit monkey on their back with it's hands over their eyes supporting their standard of living so they don't see they are falling behind.

But I don't want to get into a big discussion on that.
