I mowed today and had 8 barn swallows for company. on the 400' straight aways it wasn't crowded but when it got down to 20x20 they were all over the mower and I had to be careful changing directions. On one 180 degree spin a moth popped up right in front of the deck and I stopped. The 4th swallow nailed that sucker.

Our weather is still so cool and clear it is beginning to have an ominous, Armegeddony feel to it.
We saw a robin in the yard and Dan got excited. He said we don't see a lot of those around here- I had never thought about it-- do they not come this far south much?

I have been calling the city about our drainage ditch. It isn't doing what God and the City of Southlake intended and is filled with stagnant disgusting water. There's even a very large turtle in it, but I couldn't see his tail to see if he were a snapping turtle or not, and now I can't find him again. Myers disappeared for two days, and I really worried that he might have overestimated himself and taken on that turtle, but he showed up under the bed yesterday morning-- alone, thank god. (You know how he likes to bring his friends home-- in pieces)

Coyote scat!!!
Did you finish the book?
Today on the news, I heard a mammals expert talking about how the shark attacks last year had people out killing sharks and wanting to know just what good they did anyway.
He said it was so disturbing how ignorant people are about ecological balance..
and of course I thought of the coyotes....
