I would normally first consider making sure you have the recent drivers installed for the motherboard, and check on other configuration concerns. But 3 1/2 floppy drives are rarely an issue with respect to drivers or configuration. So I will approach this problem in a different way.

Does the light remain lit when you bring up your system, or does the light go on only when you try to access the floppy drive? If the light remains lit all the time, then the cable that has been plugged into the drive needs to be reversed. It has been plugged in improperly. However, if the light only goes on when the drive is being accessed, then I suspect it is a problem with the floppy drive. Is this a new floppy drive purchase? How long has this floppy drive been working with your computer system? Is this a consistent problem with the floppy drive? It may be worthwhile to make sure the cable has been plugged completely into the motherboard and the drive, by unplugging and reinserting both ends of the cable.
