Dan, <Maybe I'm wrong - but I was right about copper, right about Rambus, and right about Athlon back in 1999.>

But you were wrong about 3DNow, SSE, 8-way Athlons, Mustang, X-Box, Palomino, Northwood, 0.13u, mobile, execution, Sanders' pump-n-dump, and AMD's profitability.

Batting .200 doesn't cut it in the major leagues, pal.

Dan,

It's still all conjecture, AMD is going to win this market, AMD is going to win that market, Intel is toast because AMD is going to change the whole market into a commodity business. The next chip is always the Intel killer. It's very easy to take a set of vague expectations, and put any spin on them that you want to (you are as good at it as most of our politicians), but in the end, you are wrong. Intel remains on top, increasing it's lead and margins.

I spent my life as a Cub fan, I know what you are going through. But I was never dumb enough to bet on them. Just get over it, find a good company to invest in that isn't competing with an Intel.

(BTW, what has hurt Intel's financial position was Barretts Great Adventure (spending spree) of 1999 and 2000, he seems to have come to his senses since then.)

re: Over the same period, Intel's financials have deteriorated substantially (though they're still very, very, good) and Intel's stock price has fallen to about half of what it was back then.

Actually, for most of July '99, INTC traded below where it is today. stockcharts.com[w,a]waolyyay[pb50!b200][vc60][iUb14!La12,26,9]&pref=G
