Dawgy,

Try to write down the exact error message for us so we know which type of error it is. Also, if there is an explanation of the error in Windows somewhere, go in there to see if there is an error log or something (it varies by Op system where that can be found).

Some versions of Windows shut everything down because of competition over resources by different programs, which are often running in the background. It might not be a virus at all.

Have you tried reinstalling Win 98 (You did say you were using Win 98, right?) on top of your
current version? I've had a pretty good success rate working out bugs by doing so. None of your
data or programs will be affected.
