So true, whenever I go flat the impulse to reverse direction is incredibly strong. I've learned that I'm rarely good enough to get out at the precise moment of a turn, and reversing immediately causes me to get shaken out if the trend continues.

I think you are right about SAR'ing. Unless you are a wiggle trader, it's usually not a good idea.
