Hi Ian,

Good point.
I truly believe that the drop in Dram is ONLY occurring because Micron is pooring the "you want to see how low we can afford to sell memory at" on.

If the board of director would take their pride and head out of their butts - and admit they've had it handed to them by the most efficient manufacturers globally (Samsung /Micron).The drop in Dram would never have occurred.

On the other hand it is time to buy your next cheap upgraded computer.

When the dust settles: Micron will ramp up price into demand as Intel decides they'll forgo their quarterly price cuts as AMD no longer pushes the higher speed Microprocessors ( they'll be buying 200mm .13 micron equipment in an effort to catch up to Intel).

By the time AMD catches up, Intel will be "surprising everyone" with the long awaited payback from their sizeable and often forgotten entry into communication chips.

Al's negative perspective is much appreciated by myself, as it feeds the totally incorrect perspective that Chips will never recover.

As G quite rightly points out - history is on his side.I think it will be a slower rebound but run longer as the World wide recovery will carry us very nicely up thru 2003.

Today's downgrade is bringing price back into a perfect set up for double and triple baggers - much faster than most believe.

JMHO
