It's total baloney that Quantispeed is based on TBird or Palomino performance, no matter what AMD says. It's based on performance relative to the competing Intel processor because then the consumer can compare performance.

For the Clawhammer, the comparable Intel CPU will be a P4 with 533 MHz bus and single channel DDR PC2700 memory. PC800 or PC1066 RDRAM, and dual channel DDR systems will be very rare until Q2 2003 at the earliest.

Anything called Duron by AMD should transition to quantispeed ratings based on the Celeron P4, which will allow considerable inflation in the QS rating.
