There seems to be this notion that anyone who was Muslim, like Elgindy, likely knew, or knew someone that knew, about the 9/11 attacks. I find this to be rather foolish. Logic dictates that massive attacks like this don't take years to develop unless a bare minimum of people know about it and keep it to themselves.

Furthermore, if we assume somehow Elgindy did know, we'd also have to assume he was a traitor to his/our country for not telling his friends at the FBI. Once we extend the logic to that extent, it would follow that someone like that who is an expert in the markets would not have passed up a fabulous money-making opportunity by heavily shorting the market and/or airline stocks and the like. The fact no evidence has been presented by now he did this with the money in the liquidated trusts makes the allegations even that much more unlikely.

There are many many reasons that many many people have to criticize Elgindy (for example, see: Message 17514623 by Pluvia). However, I highly doubt even Elgindy's worst detractors would venture to say he likely betrayed his country by profiting from his knowledge of a tragic event like 9/11.

That's an extremely irresponsible comment for the prosecutor to have made, and in my view it seriously hurts his credibility. Ain't no way on earth Tony had advance knowledge of the attacks. And if he had, he wouldn't have only (coincidentally) liquidated a little $300k account. He would've thrown everything at shorting the airlines. I'm sure that if he had, that information would already be just as public as Breen's comment is.

Anthony was also pretty vocal about encouraging people not to short the post-9/11 tankage.

I'm glad the judge decided to ignore it and agree with Anthony's lawyer's statement about the comment.

The prosecution already has plenty to really nail him with if the allegations are true, so it's incredible they'd want to throw crap like that out there.
