I never said that we had blanket responsibility. The fact is, we have pretty much sponsored Israel for decades. You are quite wrong to anticipate a diplomatic solution absent American involvement. Suffice it to say, your lack of appreciation of the true state of affairs would be a mortal threat to Israelis as human beings, should it ever prevail. You are like Neville Chamberlain, assuring us that if we only give Hitler the Sudetenland, there will be peace in our time. No, you will merely tell the terrorists that they have hit upon the right strategy, for their appetites do not stop with Israel..........

IMHO, the United States has, for the past 50 years has been the stabilizing influence in the ME. If the U.S. weren't involved, the consequences could have been horrific.
