Combjelly, well when you put it that way, sure it sounds reasonable. But so have the countless other estimates on AMD's manufacturing capabilities, that have thus far failed to explain why they are effectively outputting at half capacity in Dresden right now (and that's *if* you believe in "world class yields"). So thanks for the insightful prediction, but I'll hold my skepticism until I can see what AMD delivers with their new product lines.

P.S. as an afterthought, it just occurred to me that Barton now has 512KB of cache, which would increase AMD's K7 die size, and decrease the number of "potential chips" that they showed on their older marketing slide.

AMD recently said they were doing about 3800 per week, and would ramp up from there

With 3800 WSPW to produce the ~4.5Million Athlons sold in Q1 is equal to ~91DPW. That's piss poor yield and proves AMD's claim of "World Class Yields" is simply a lie. Another claim of 5000WSPW was made by AMD in their BofA CC back in Janurary

"We are at MAX capacity -- urrr max capacity we're at 5000 WPW which is the rated capacity of the fab but now we're shipping the .13 and SOI. So we need certain equipment for that."

So at 5000 WSPW the yield just gets MUCH worse than simply piss poor. Or maybe you should interpret the above quote to mean AMD was claiming that they were using some of that capacity to ship .13u and SOI. Seeing as essentially nothing whatsoever has shipped and this is almost June, we have our choice of picking which lie to choose. Any way to interpret it, AMD is lying, lying, lying.

And you guys believe their claims about Hammer...

BS stinks and the fumes are all around AMD.
