Well, as long as you accept that I am making this up off the top of my head.....

I think that a top is made when everybody who wants to buy, has bought. What causes capitulation selling/buying? that is a different question. And I don't really know what causes the convergence of sentiment that causes a selling (or buying) climax.

I do consider that capitulation selling to be necessary for a bottom to be formed. I try not to wait around for the buying climax. I hope to have taken profits by then.
