Of the $235 million buyout, $120 million goes to a family owned firm, Collier Resources. It would be interesting to find out if there's any connection to the Bush administration there.

Also, note that there are trillions of cubic feet of natural gas reserves in this area. These natural gas reserves would be available years before anything in the ANWR would be available in the Continental US.

So? That's no protection against oil price shocks.
