Dan I'm not sure exactly what you mean by taskbar icons on the desktop but perhaps one of these suggestions will cover the situation. If you right-click on the taskbar at the bottom of the screen you can arrange your open windows in several ways. If you right click your desktop you can arrange your desktop icons in several ways. If it's a toolbar you want to move you can click on them and hold the left mouse button down and drag and drop them to any edge of your desktop.
