AlleN> So you believe that the Windows registry doesn't get fouled up unless the user does something wrong?

What I am saying is exactly what I said

Operator malfunction

Totally fouling up the XP registry isn't a common occurrence, or something that is done without some effort.

For a moment, though, let's assume that there are no faulty programs, only faulty users. Fine. How is it okay, even then,

by coincidence, Bill Gates has said this very thing, that he believes that the thousands of bugs in the Windows OS is nothing more than the fault of faulty users........

and you wonder how windows got to be so bad...... then you get to hear about wintel users saying "how have i been harmed from no competition????...." whatever....

Gates:
No! There are no significant bugs in our released software that any significant number of users want fixed.

FOCUS:
Oh, my God. I always get mad at my computer if MS Word swallows the page numbers of a document which I printed a couple of times with page numbers. If I complain to anybody they say "Well, upgrade from version 5.11 to 6.0".
Gates:
No! If you really think there's a bug you should report a bug. Maybe you're not using it properly. Have you ever considered that?

by the way, after this interview.... MSFT admited it had about 63,000 bugs in Windows2000......

epinions.com

but i guess since they didn't get a bug report from a user, that these bugs didn't exist...... whatever.....
