I really would like to see your answer. But to respond to you... First, I think that ultimately the Supreme Court will decide the legality of Military Tribunals. In the meantime, though, I think all good Americans should be asking themselves if they think it is legal or not. Personally, I think that the words "No person" at the beginning of the 5th Amendment are pretty clear. I'm no Constitutional scholar, but that seems pretty simple... Also, it seems kind of disingenuous of you to ask that question in the first place. Did you really see something in my post that made you think I thought the United Nations should be able to decide how we govern ourselves? Next, I never said you should be afraid of your country. I said you should be afraid of your government. Big difference. If you don't think it is legitimate for US Citizens to be afraid of their government, then there is no point discussing anything with you. That fear is the basis of everything I wrote. If you think the US Government has never abused US citizens, take a look at this...oz.net If you really want me to find you more examples, I will. It might open your eyes a little if you spend some time and find them yourself. I suggest you go to google.com and do a search on "Joe McCarthy" for a start. You asked me about which rights I am afraid I am about to have taken from me (I have no intention to give any away, I don't see why you are so eager to). I don't see why you care. Seriously, is there really something surprising about being concerned about my rights? I'm concerned about all of them. I don't know about you, but I live in a big city, which means I already live in fear of the police. And I'm white! I can't imagine how terrifying it must be to be black or hispanic. For you to imply that I can't demand my government justify the legality of everything it does is more then a little insulting. Finally, you include the link to the story about ground zero. What does that have to do with the legality of anything? Are you intentionally trying to remove all logic from this discussion? Do you think it is better if we just react based on fear and anger? I think it demeans the people who died, if we just give up the rights that caused that attack in the first place. If we let our government change the US, then we have already lost to the terrorists and those people died for nothing. Now, more then ever, we need to protect and cherish the rights and freedoms we have. That is how we win. You say you have had ancestors who have fought. What did they fight and die for? For you to reduce that to a comment about begin politically incorrect seems kind of lame. Just curious, in addition to my previous question (which I am still curious to see an answer for), I'm also a little curious why my post evoked such a strong response from you. Does my statement that people who are willing to give up other peoples liberty are jerks really seem so wrong to you? Regards, Chris
