A weak president installed under controversial circumstances invited the enemy attack. Not to mention the reduction thereafter in terrorist-watching.

As far as the "foiled plots", I'm sure we'll see plenty of verbiage, but it too early declare anything as progress until there is evidence of increasing safety here at home.
That's the bottom line, everything else is fantasy.

All evidence and even official statements are of decreasing safety. Since that is the bottom line, we must keep our eyes on that ball. Various battles may not increase safety but may actually increase the danger of further retaliation here in the US. Only a simpleton would equate bomb tonnage or body counts with progress towards domestic security.

As far as Russia and weapons reductions, I'd be more impressed if the buyout of fissionable materials and a policy of actual destruction were declared to be a goal.
At this point we're supposed to be happy with warehousing warheads until later, which exacerbates the nuclear terrorist threat, not reduces it.

Most of the time that Clinton was in office, we still ran deficits
You like to gloss over the fact that under Clinton the deficits got smaller and smaller and disappeared. Under Bush, they returned, expanded, and exploded. You must have the old play book.
