The resume has been shortened. During his confirmation hearings the resume read: Mr. Mueller became an Assistant to Attorney General Richard Thornburgh in May 1989. His focus was advising the A.G. on criminal matters. He also served as the liaison between the A.G.’s office and the FBI, the DEA, and other federal agencies. The "other" federal agency in 1989-1990 was the CIA. Mueller's job at that time was to ensure that Bush Sr.'s name did not come up in connection with the Iran/Contra actions or the October Surprise of the previous administration. As part of covering up Iran/Contra Mueller also had to cover the financing of the operation through BCCI. Professor John Metzger of Michigan State University: "We should revisit the history of BCCI, a bank used by the legendary Palestinian terrorist known as Abu Nidal.
