Race relations in England are nothing to write home about, is my impression. The Financial Times recently (last month or so) reported on a study showing that racial attitudes are typically not what one would call "respectful," and that the trend is deepening.

I didn't say bigotry is dead. Try to dig up UK stories on chains and pick ups trucks and barbed wire. By comparison to the US, it's a hell of a lot better. That's worth writing home about.
