I drove through SOMA (south of market) in san francisco two weekends ago and there were hundreds of for lease signs, both residential and commercial.. I read an article in sfgate yesterday that said the vacancy rate for commercial property in the soma region is now 49%, the highest in history. Talk about boom to bust.. the nerve center of the dot com world, now reverting to its former status as warehouse-ville and cracktown.
